AQUALOGICA
an exploration into sub-aqua sonic objects
Simon Scardanelli - 2000
Sound underwater, primal. Echoes and resonance from the womb. Perceptions of un-reality, dreamily fluid and intangible. Hazily distorted through bleary water-eyed listening. Point-contact-location lost in waves of attenuated vibration. The only route to experience is submersion, regression. Scardanelli will create a sub-aqua concert piece that can only be heard underwater. The concert-goer must enter the pool to enter the concert. Biological and environmental sound sources, and sounds produced by the machinery at Moseley Baths will form the material with which Scardanelli will fuse, manipulate, distort and bend our perception of sound. For sound underwater travels at a different speed; the air-born laws of physics do not apply to this sub-aqua audio experience.
